Our team at Travel Doctor-TMVC Melbourne are passionate about travel and have first-hand experience working and travelling within many of the destinations our patients visit. This allows us to provide travel medicine to a variety of travellers. As passionate travellers, we understand the risks and rewards associated with international travel.
Our medical team have undertaken additional training in this discipline to enable them to provide accurate and individualised advice, all relevant to your destination and itinerary.
We employ 6 experienced travel medicine practitioners, 15 trained nurses and 6 enthusiastic administrative professionals who work together to provide a professional service to all patients.
Dr Wright has been with TMVC for many years and has been the expedition doctor for Nepal trips in 1994 and 1995 and several group trips including a large group of elderly travellers in 1997. His special interest is in HIV medicine and Sports medicine.
Dr Carty has a background in General Practice, and has worked in Travel Medicine since 1996,including several years of Corporate Medical work at BHP. He completed his Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine at James Cook University, Queensland, in 2008.
Dr Tse has a background in Australian General Practice. Within her previous and current roles she has developed expertise in the areas of travel medicine, preventative health and corporate health. Dr Tse has been a medical advisor with the Travel Doctor-TMVC since 2011. Her previous work has included a role with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners as a medical educator. Dr Tse is a medical graduate of the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and has previously worked in New Zealand and the United Kingdom as well as having medical experience in Kenya. She attained the Certificate in Travel Health from the International Society of Travel Medicine in 2014 and became a registered medical examiner for the Oil and Gas UK (OGUK) Medical Examination in 2015.
Dr. Dunhill has a background in general practice and travel medicine. She completed her fellowship in general practice in 1997 and has over 20 years’ experience in both preventative and acute medicine. Dr Dunhill completed her certificate in Travel Health in 2008 and has since been practicing travel medicine since 2008 and has been a Medical Advisor with Travel Doctor-TMVC since 2009. Dr Dunhill also enjoys travelling whenever the opportunity arises.
Dr Lau is a medical graduate of the University of Melbourne. He has been working specifically in the travel medicine field since 1993. Prior to this Dr Lau worked in Hong Kong between 1985 to 1991. He then gained training in Infectious Diseases at the Fairfield Infectious Diseases Hospital in Melbourne. He completed his Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine at the James Cook University of North Queensland in Townsville in 1998. His special interest is tropical diseases in returned travellers.
Gabrielle became a Nurse Immuniser in 2004, working as an area Team leader within the NSW Health Department. Since then she has developed a keen interest in immunisation and also travel health. She has previously worked in major public hospitals in Victoria, NSW and also the UK in most areas of nursing. She commenced working at Travel Doctor-TMVC in 2011, and is currently working in the Melbourne clinic as a travel vaccination nurse and as a Senior Nurse in the Sonic HealthPlus Senior nurse team.
Sharyn developed her love of the field of immunisations while working in paediatrics. She then moved into travel medicine, working in a nurse-led clinic in London for 8 years and then 11 years with Travel Doctor. She has completed a Diploma of Travel Medicine at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, as well as passing the Certificate of Knowledge in Travel Health Exam through the International Society of Travel Medicine at the Budapest Conference 2009.
Sharyn has travelled extensively around the world.
All of our nurses have travelled extensively and most have worked overseas or been involved in volunteer programs or nursing training abroad. They are all highly skilled and trained to give injections and are able to alleviate the fears of the most anxious 'fully grown child'!
