Overview

An island group in the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Verde is situated 620 kms north west of Senegal and consists of mountainous islands of volcanic origin with fine sandy beaches on most islands.

The climate is arid with periodic droughts. Annual rainfall is unreliable and low. Rainfall, when it occurs, is generally between August and September. The dry period is December-June. Average temperatures between 22°C and 27°C.
