Overview

Wales is a country in the south west of the island of Great Britain, as well as being part of the United Kingdom. Its bordered England in the east, the Bristol Channel in the south and the Irish Sea in the north and west. Wales’ total area is 20,779 sq. km and has a population of approximately 3 million people.

Wales has a changeable, maritime climate and is one of the wettest countries in Europe. The weather is often cloudy, wet and windy, with mild winters and warm summers. Average annual temperatures reach 10.5°C in coastal areas and in low lying inland areas, 1°C lower. Summers tend to be warm and sunny at low elevations. Average maximum temperatures are between 19°C and 22°C.
