Overview

Malawi is located in south-east Africa and is a narrow land-locked country covering 118,000 sq. kms. Traversing the country north to south is the Great Rift Valley which contains Africa's third largest lake and covers 20% of the land area. The south is heavily populated. 50% of the land is forested.

The climate is equatorial monsoonal. The dry season lasts from May to October and the wet season from November to April. November is the hottest month.
