Overview

Lithuania is situated on the Baltic Sea and shares borders with Latvia, Belarus and Poland. The landscape is basically flat rising to its highest point in the south east. There are over 3,000 lakes.

The climate is affected by the country's proximity to the Baltic Sea which moderates an otherwise continental climate. Temperatures range from minus 5°C in winter to 17°C in July.
