Overview

Located on the east coast of the Mediterranean in south west Asia, Lebanon covers 10,400 sq. kms. The narrow coastal plain rises gradually to the Lebanon mountains. The arid eastern slopes fall abruptly to form a fertile plateau.

The climate is Mediterranean, varying with altitude. Hot dry summers and warm, moist winters. Much drier and cooler in the Bekka Valley in the north east. Average temperatures vary from 13°C in January to 28°C in July.
