Tourists’ chikungunya diagnoses from Spain in doubt

A June 21 release from Iceland’s Directorate of Health placed doubt on whether chikungunya infections had in fact been contracted by four of their nationals in the Alicante region of Spain recently. A follow-up local Spanish news report updated the situation, stating that the results were, in fact, false positives and that no other chikungunya cases or mosquito vectors were found in the immediate area.
