As the Tick-borne encephalitis risk continues to spread, vaccination is highly recommended for all residents and visitors who may be participating in any outdoor activities, with an emphasis placed on grassy areas, hedges and clearings on forest edges. Vaccination is the best defence against TBE, as there is no specific drug therapy for infection at this stage. Insect bite prevention measures are advised regardless as Lyme disease is also present. Authorities have advised that only Geneva and Ticino are outside the risk areas.  Read more.
