RVF cases mount in Mayotte, local agriculture affected

French media has announced that the production of unpasteurised milk on Mayotte will cease for three months as health authorities deal with the outbreak of Rift Valley fever that has now produced 82 human cases since November last year. Infections in humans remain concentrated on the centre and NW of the island and numbers have remained stable for the past three weeks, however, nearly 40 clusters have been identified among local animals – cattle, sheep and goats.
