A CHOLERA outbreak in Karaikal (Puducherry) has health officials in the nearby states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala on alert, while a sharp rise in cases of typhoid fever in Telangana has been blamed on the consumption of a particular type of street food sold by vendors who lack basic hygiene measures.
