Dengue cases sprouting on QLD’s Central Coast

Queensland health authorities plan for full outbreak response in an attempt to stop further spread after a locally-acquired case of dengue fever was reported at the end of last month in a resident of the northern suburbs of Rockhampton - no history of travel was recorded.

The health department discovered a further 6 dengue fever cases diagnosed in Rockhampton within the following week. Surveillance was strengthened and control measures instituted in the Park Avenue area of the city’s north after the first diagnosis. Read more.
