Bacterial infection kills four in Fiji; Pink eye cases in 6 towns

This week the health ministry announced the reporting of 69 cases of leptospirosis in the Central Division since the beginning of the year and four deaths resulting – most cases were in the 1- 29 years of age group. On Jan 21 the department also advised an increased incidence of conjunctivitis or ‘pink eye’, mainly affecting Suva, Sigatoka, Nadi, Ba, Lautoka, and Savusavu.
