Overview

Located in south east Central Asia, bounded by China to the east, Afghanistan to the south. Most of the country is mountainous. Valleys make up less then 10% of the country. Earthquakes are not uncommon. Less than one third of the land is arable.

The climate varies widely according to the terrain. Some mountains are permanently snow capped. The valleys have hot, dry summers reaching 27°C in July.
