The Kingdom of Swaziland is a land-locked country in southeast Africa and covers 17,000 sq. kms, renowned for its traditional Swazi culture. There are four distinct geographical regions from west to east. In the western part is the Highveld and includes the highest point in Swaziland. Further east is the more populous Middleveld, sloping eastwards again to the bush-covered Lowveld and finally the Lubombo Escarpment in the eastern border.

The climate is temperate and the rainy season lasts November to March with high temperatures and thunderstorms. It is cooler and drier May to September. The west is subject to high temperatures and drought, temperatures vary between 15°C in July and 22°C in January.
