Overview

Moldova is a land-locked south-eastern European country bounded on three sides by Ukraine and in the west by Romania. The land is mostly hilly plains cut by a series of deep valleys and gorges.

The climate is mild and moderately continental with long, dry periods in the south. Most of the rainfall occurs in the warmer months. In winter the temperature drops below freezing and in summer averages 23°C.
