Cholera in Cuba

The Cuban Government has confirmed that three people have died of cholera and another 50 have been infected with cholera in Manzanillo in the southeast province of Granma. The outbreak has been attributed to water problems resulting from the recent heavy rains and high temperatures, and the outbreak is reported to be slowing.. The people who have died are said to have suffered from other chronic health problems. Current newspaper reports from other sources, however, allege that the number of cases is much higher than that stated and that the outbreak is spreading. Meanwhile in response Mexico has tightened up security surveillance in Merida airport  in Yucatan province and other ports of entry.
